AKA Case Management helps adults and young people with brain, spinal cord and orthopaedic injuries to live full, independent lives through complex case management. As part of this, it supports clients and families through providing practical, emotional support and long-term rehabilitation, as well as assisting lawyers to help clients to handle compensation claims efficiently.
Most of the AKA team work remotely on a regular basis. Like most companies, this has increased over the past few months due to the pandemic. Previously, all files were accessed through an onsite server via remote connections from user devices. The server was outdated and wasn’t performing efficiently, so users were experiencing an unreliable connection which would frequently drop and lag. As a result, employee productivity was suffering, and their computer systems were causing frustrations and downtime. To gain access to their files, users had to contact their IT provider to log onto their device and fix the connection issue – a problematic, unsustainable solution that needed rectifying. Along with the poor server performance, security also required updating as there are confidential legal and healthcare files on the system that need to be properly contained.
